Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – A Chronic Gut Disorder

IBD includes conditions like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, where the digestive tract becomes chronically inflamed. Patients often experience abdominal pain, diarrhea (sometimes with blood), weight loss, and fatigue. Symptoms may come in cycles, with periods of flare-ups and remission. The exact cause is not fully known, but immune system dysfunction, genetics, and environmental factors play a role. IBD requires long-term management. Treatment includes medications to control inflammation, improve symptoms, and prevent complications. With proper care, many patients lead active lives. Early diagnosis helps prevent severe disease progression.
